The 9th Asia Smart City Conference(ASCC)
The 9th ASCC was held in an online format for the first time using a digital platform due to the impact of COVID-19. With “Building smart cities aiming for carbon neutrality through city to city collaboration under the influence of COVID-19” as its main theme, the conference aimed to enhance its role as a hub for information on smart city development in Asia, and to generate more business opportunities for the creation of economically, socially, and environmentally sustainable cities.
The main event, held on January 18, 2021, provided a forum for online communication between various companies as well as companies and foreign cities. A total of approximately 1,250 people (42 countries and 1 region) and approximately 750 organizations participated in the 9th ASCC main event.
The main event featured informative sessions organized by the Asian Development Bank Institute (ADBI) and the World Bank Tokyo Learning Center (TDLC), the Yokohama Youth Event by Yokohama City University students as well as five thematic sessions on energy, waste management, wastewater treatment, disaster risk reduction, and smart cities, and other sessions on a variety of topics. At the closing session, the “Yokohama Declaration” was presented as the outcome of the 9th ASCC.
